Artist Bio

Elexis Hernandez is a 25 year old Mexican American San Antonio based artist whose work explores discussions of women's health, culture, mental health, sexuality, and showcasing her personal experiences. Her main mediums are oil and acrylics on canvas and is heavily inspired by Mexican and Surrealist artists. She graduated from Northeast School of the Arts in 2019 with a focus in visual arts that opened her to opportunities at Blue Star Art Complex in 2015 at fourteen years old. Her first show was located at Hijole Studios and The Heart House gallery where she featured pieces during First Friday from her freshmen to senior year of highschool.

During her attendance at NESA she was awarded a summer scholarship to attend OTIS College of Art and Design located in California where she majored in illustration and traditional drawing in 2018 that helped further develop her style.

At age 20, Elexis’ first solo show consisting of twenty four paintings at Hijole Studios in 2021 called Ghost Story discussing the topics of mental health successfully sold out within the first month and jump started her career as a full time painter.

Recently she has displayed her works across Blue Star Art Complex, The Upstairs Studios, Nomas Studios, Interlopergallery, San Antonio Arts Collective and various other art gallery locations across San Antonio.  Her studio resides in her family home where she spends most of her time painting, caring for her plants, studying art history, exploring San Antonio and spending time with her loved ones.
